The Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 marks a significant evolution over its predecessor. It adopts a modern, liquid-cooled 452 cc DOHC single-cylinder “Sherpa” engine, producing roughly 40 hp and 40 Nm of torque — a substantial bump from the older 411-cc air-cooled model. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch, giving more flexibility and smoother shifting whether you're cruising highways or tackling twisty back-roads. On the chassis side, it rides on a new twin-spar tubular steel frame that uses the engine as a structural member, helping improve rigidity and centralise mass for better handling. Suspension and braking have also been upgraded: a 43 mm upside-down (USD) front fork and a linkage-type monoshock rear, each with 200 mm travel; plus larger disc brakes (320 mm front, 270 mm rear) with switchable dual-channel ABS, giving the bike improved stability both on- and off-road.
In terms of practicality, the Himalayan 452 retains the spirit of an adventure-tourer but with refinements that make it more versatile for daily use as well as touring. Ergonomics remain upright and comfortable — the seat height is adjustable (standard seat 825–845 mm, optional low seat 805–825 mm) to suit different rider statures. A 17 litre fuel tank gives good range for longer rides, while a 4-inch round TFT instrument cluster offers modern connectivity, including phone pairing and map navigation. The bike runs wire-spoked 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, and maintains a substantial 230 mm ground clearance, making it capable on rougher roads and light off-road tracks. All in all, it’s a refined, more modern take on the adventure-touring formula: rugged enough for exploration, but slick and predictable enough for everyday riding.
